clean tower

Push back; in order to give back

Clean Tower answers the challenge to create a super tall that addresses problems standing in the way of Chicago reaching the 2020 challenge and becoming a zero carbon city. The tower achieves this by focusing on water purification and public space, therefore redefining the way that Chicagoans interact with and know the river. The leaning high-rise with dramatic views aims to celebrate the river, rather than mistreat it.

The site chosen is Wolf Point for its long history with the Chicago river, maximum potential with views South and East down the River Branch corridors, large riverfront access, and current under utilized potential of the site. Typical building design on Wolf Point is a terrible commercial/developer approach to place buildings as far South as possible in order to maximize profits. Clean tower makes one large gesture to ‘push back’ in order to ‘give back’.

Clean Tower is a collaboration with Peter Binggeser.
